Today in class we started off by doing accelerated math and then had a work period. I did not work on accelerated math today in class because I decided to get some help on Property taxation Exercise 2.

Math Reflections

Today in class we took notes on circle theorem, and the rest of the class was a work period. I have mastered 34 objectives as of today, and by the end of the week I am hoping to have 40 mastered objectives.

Math Reflection

Today in class we started off by doing Mental math, and then we had a work period and marks were updated today. Everyone worked on any work that they were behind in, such as the budgeting exercies like me or accelerated math.

Math Reflection

Today in class we had taken notes on how to do Property Tax, and we learned 2 of the 4 formulas we need to know. We also learned how to find the Mill Rate.

Math Reflection

Today in class we learned how to use a TVM solver on a calculator. We learned that if you have six of the seven values, you can find the seventh value by plugging in the other values in the correct spot. We also learned what the buttons on the left side where you put your values in represent. We have all been assigned a question that is due tomorrow at the start of class.

Math Reflection

Today in class we finished questions 6 and 8. We went over in class how to do number 8, and we have been given a couple more questions for practice if you want. We are also getting questions to do for homework which will act like a test.

Math Reflection

Today in class we learned how to do Linear Programming. We learned how to figure out the problems and how to graph them and also which parts you see on the graph do not work for the problem. This is because only one of the inequalities work and not the other. We have been assigned problems 6 and 8 on page D-10.

Linear Inequations

Today in class we started learning how to do Linear Inequalities, and how to solve the problems. I am finding Linear Inequalities to be not difficult in class, so I am hoping when I try and do my assignments tonight it will be easy to. We have been assigned a couple of exercises due for next class.

Test Review

Today in class we went over all the topics that will be on the test tomorrow. For the test we need to know The systems of Linear equations, and how to do the non-linear equations. We also have to know the domain and range and how to find them. Mr. Maksymchuk also went over a few of the problems and showed us how to do the problems.

Math Reflection

Today in class we went over how to do Exponential Functions in class. We learned how to do the work on a spreadsheet either on Excel or on Google Docs. We learned what to type in each cell column and what to put as an equation to work out the problem properly. We were told to do Exercise 3 problem 5 for homework, and I am now to complete that assignment.

Math Reflection

Today in class we learned how to do the third type of non-linear functions. This was the exponential form. I some what understand how to do the work but I don't know how to do all of the work on the calculator, that is not knowing how to bring up some of the options on the calculator. I am going to stay after school two times this week to figure out how to do some of this math and go over it before the test on Friday which covers everything we have done up to this point so far this year.

Quadratic Functions

Today in class we learned about the vertex, range, and domain along with the axis of symmetry. We also were taught how to find the coordinates of the vertex, the x-intercepts, the domain, and the range.

Work Period

Today in class we worked on our 3 word problems that we were given on Friday of last week, and we got help from the teacher writing out the equations, which seems to be the hardest part for me. Other students worked on their accelerated math and were trying to complete some more objectives.

Word Problems

I think that the Word Problem Solving System is easier because you only need to remember 2 rules, which are 1: choose, define and label the 2 variables, and 2: create and relate using two equations using 2 variables.

Addition/Subtraction Method

For this method you need to multiply to get the y-value preferably the same in both the l1 and l2 columns. After doing this you subtract the l2 column from the l1 column. When you do this your y-value is gone so you should get the x-value to equal your answer part of your question. Then you divide your x value into the answer to get your answer. To check your answer you need to just plug in your answer that you got and it should equal out on both sides.

Substitution Method (for solving linear systmes)

l1: 2x+4y=8
l2: 3x+y=-13
Step 1: y=(-13-3x)/2x+4(-13-3x)=8
Step 2: 2x-52-12x+52=-12x=8=52
Step 3: -10x/10=60/-10
Step 4: x= -6

Goals of grade 11 Applied Math

My goals for grade 11 Applied Math are: complete accelerated math by due dates, have a final grade of 80% or higher, learn and understand all topics we learn this semester, and to be able to look at math problems differently and figure them out in different ways.
